Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did some work in our journals. We talked about two main concepts & answered the following questions in our journals: 1) Rutherford - who is he? Describe his gold foil experiment (think about playing marbles). Why is it important? 2) Describe an atom. What does it look like? How are atoms & elements related? (think about humans as a group & individual humans)
  • This link shows you Rutherford's experiment. Can you describe it in your own words? http://www.shsu.edu/%7Echm_tgc/sounds/ruther.mov
  • Exchanged our journals & got feedback from a classmate. Did they write something different than you? Did you add to your journal entry?
  • On page 126-127 in your texbook you chose your favourite element, made its "square", labelled it, defined all of the terms, and mentioned any other facts you knew about it. This should help you remember how to read a periodic table.
  • The elements song: http://www.privatehand.com/flash/elements.html (words), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmwlzwGMMwc&feature=related (pictures)
  • You have alot of work ready to be handed back to you....please remind me!
  • What is an ion charge? Remember it has to do with electrons.
  • Review sections 1.0 & 2.0 of Matter & Chemical Change. Write down two questions you have.
  • Quiz on THURSDAY sections 1.0, 2.0, & 3.0.
